The city of Des Moines offers beautiful locations that host some of the region's most outstanding events each year. From our locally famous waterfront Farmers Market and Summer Concerts in the Park, Car and Boat show to our Independence Day celebration, there is always something to do come explore and enjoy the adventures we have to offer!

Des Moines Holiday Craft Fair – November 6th 2021
Local artists and artisans are welcome to sell their goods. Just in time for the holidays and free to the whole community.
Squid-A-Rama - Saturday November 13, 2021 4PM to 7PM Live from the MaST Centers Facebook Page
In partnership with the MaST Center at Redondo, The Des Moines Arts Commission hosts a free virtual Squid a Rama. This annual event is FREE to the public and features art and science activities for all ages. This year we will go virtual and bring the action to you. Student Art Competition, with artwork provided by Des Moines students. Voting will take place on the Arts Commission Facebook Page. Like your favorite artwork and the top three students will receive art supplies. Live streamed squid run with MaST Center volunteers. A live squid dissection with the MaST Centers Lead Biologist. Join the watch party as we bring a long-standing tradition of Des Moines to your home.

Holiday Tree Lighting – Friday, December 3rd 2021 - Details TBD
The first Friday of December marks the date for the annual Holiday Tree lighting event in the Des Moines Marina District. Destination Des Moines brings hosts this free Community event with cookies, hot cocoa, caroling and photos with Santa at Big Catch Plaza.

Argosy Christmas Ships and Bon Fire on the Beach - December 2021 - Details TBD
Holiday tradition in the Northwest start on the water with Argosy Cruises. The Argosy Cruise Christmas Ship Festival is a holiday celebration that has been a Pacific Northwest tradition since 1949. Every year, the Argosy Christmas Ship sails to different Puget Sound waterfront communities, over 45 in total. Choirs onboard sing 20-minute performances to these communities, all broadcast via state-of-the-art speaker system. On shore, thousands of people gather around roaring bonfires anticipating the arrival of the Christmas Ship.

Saltwater State Park Walk – January 1st 2021
Meet in lower parking lot for guided walk @10:30am on the ravine loop trail of 1.5 to 2 miles, elevation gain is slight to mild. Afterwards enjoy hot chocolate and treats in the cafe and visit the seashore. Free day at the park, Discover Pass not needed. First Day Paddle – January 1st 2021

Poverty Bay Wine Festival (VIRTUAL EDITION) – Saturday, March 27th 2021 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Join the fun at the Poverty Bay Wine Festival – Virtual Edition on Facebook Live presented by the Rotary Club of Des Moines/Normandy Park and Destination Des Moines. Get together with your friends (over 21 please) during this groundbreaking virtual wine tasting featuring 20 of our favorite Northwest wineries and winemakers. Waterland Wine & Art Walk – Saturday, May TBD
Destination Des Moines brings local artists and wineries together for a fun afternoon hosted by local businesses on Marine View Drive. The Waterland Wine & Art Walk in May is a collaboration with the Des Moines Arts Commission and the South Sound Spring Opener of boating season. The Art and Wine walk will feature local artists and Des Moines Washington businesses. Participants enjoy wine tasting at most locations while viewing art - Runs 12pm to 4pm.

Waterfront Farmers Market - June - October 2021 - Saturdays 10am
The Des Moines Farmers Market runs June through October. 2 hours parking validated with proof of purchase! The Des Moines Waterfront Farmers Market was formed in 2006 as a non-profit entity, unique among the local farmers markets by requiring all of its farmers to meet a basic set of environmental stewardship principles that ensure their farming practices protect the environment while sustaining the long term viability of farmland. These practices include protecting water quality, using natural methods of pest control, preventing soil loss, conserving energy, using water conservation measures, protecting fish and wildlife habitat and enhancing genetic diversity.

Weekly Parkrun - Every Saturday Start Times of 9am Through 2021
Come join us every Saturday mornings start time of 9am and enjoy a 5k run or walk on Des Moines Creek Trail. Parkrun organize free, weekly, 5km timed runs around the world. They are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in. These events take place in pleasant parkland surroundings and we encourage people of every ability to take part; from those taking their first steps in running to Olympians; from juniors to those with more experience; we welcome you all.

Summer Concerts - Wednesday Nights at 7 PM, July 21 - August 11 2021
The Summer Concerts are Wednesdays in the months of July and August 7:00pm-8:30pm. The Washington Scuba Alliance and the City of Des Moines Arts Commission is pleased to announce the 2021 Summer Concert Series will be back this year for reduced season! This series will feature four Washington State artists or bands who will perform concerts at the Beach Park Event Center Meadow. Great entertainment on the Waterfront. Donations encouraged.

Poverty Bay Brews and Blues – Saturday, August 28th 2021
The Des Moines Rotary Club invites you to attend the annual Poverty Bay Blues and Brews Festival from 12pm-8pm. This event is the prime fundraiser for Rotary Club's Music4Life Program, expanding music to youth in our local schools. Enjoy a day filled with local blues and a variety of fine brews from local breweries. To complement your blues and brews, there will be barbecued bratwursts and B&E Market's famous tri tip for your dining enjoyment. The festival will be located on the shores of Puget Sound in the Des Moines Beach Park. This is an outdoor event and will be held rain or shine. You must be 21 years or older to attend and no pets will be allowed inside the event.

Trick or Treat Drive-Thru – Saturday, October 31st 2021 TBD
The Halloween Trick or Treat Drive-Thru event will take place in the Steven J. Underwood Memorial Park parking lot. You can arrive at any time during the scheduled event hours. When: Saturday, October 31st from 3pm-5pm (come anytime during this time block!) Where: Steven J. Underwood Memorial Park Parking Lot Route: Enter off 20th avenue, proceed through the parking lot as marked and exit back onto 20th. We'll see you there!
